Finding My Way
Everything changed in 2022, when I lost my best friend, Shannon, to COVID.
Shannon and I had big dreams. Along with our other best friend, Maribeth, we were planning to start a luxury wedding and event business together. Shannon was brilliant with design—colors, textures, details that made people feel something. Maribeth, a culinary artist, wanted to cater. And I? I promised to build us a portfolio of clients—even though I wasn’t fully confident in my photography yet.
We never got to start that business.
And losing Shannon broke something wide open in me.
In my grief, I did what I’ve always done: I got to work. I said yes to every couple, every family, every client who came my way. I didn’t breathe until 2024—when I looked around and realized I had accidentally built a business that was waiting for me to finally show up.
It took loss to wake me up to what really mattered. And when I picked up my camera again, I realized: this is how I keep the promise.
Not in the way we imagined.
But in a way that still honors the dream.
